According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Steve Jones will not be returning for Season 2 of Fox's hit talent competition, THE X FACTOR.  The host is said to be 'devastated' by the news that he is not being asked back for the show.

According to the source quoted in the report, “Steve keeps saying that living in LA is a dream come true. He loves the weather and the women, and he loves working on X Factor – it’s just a shame that the US public has not warmed to him. He got terrible reviews from critics when he started and things haven’t got better. There have been mistakes and he just doesn’t seem to have the knack for dealing with contestants."

Critics of Jones cite his 'irrelevancy' and his lack of compassion as reasons why executives at Fox have not renewed his contract for next season.  The Boston Herald recently claimed that Jones was “so far in the background he may as well be on another network”.

The Mirror speculates that current Judge Nicole Scherzinger could be a possible replacement for Jones.  According to a spokesperson for the show,  “No discussions have been had and no decisions will be made about any new contracts until the new year.”
