Philip Seymour Hoffman to Star in Le Carre's A MOST WANTED MAN

Deadline.com reports that Philip Seymour Hoffman is set to star in a film adaptation of the John Le Carre spy novel A MOST WANTED MAN. The film will be directed by Anton Corbijn.

According to the report, the film will take place in modern day Hamburg, Germany and will follow a "mysterious, tortured and near-dead half-Chechen, half-Russian man on the run who arrives in the city's Islamic community desperate for help and looking to recover his late Russian father's ill-gotten fortune." Throughout the course of the film, it remains unclear if this character is a victim of a crime, a thief or an extremist with malevolent intentions. Woven into the intrigue are a British banker and a young female attorney who are being watched by Hoffman's character, described a "brilliant, roguish chief of a covert German spy unit, who fights to put the pieces together as the clock ticks."

Philip Seymour Hoffman currently stars in the Tony-nominated revival 'Death of a Salesman'. He has received Tony nominations for Long Day's Journey Into Night and True West. He is among the founding members of LAByrinth Theater Company. Hoffman won an Academy Award for Capote, and received Oscar nominations for his roles in Doubt and Charlie Wilson's War.
