According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures has optioned the rights to the complete April 9 anniversary edition of New York Magazine which featured some of history's greatest scandals. The studio is considering turning the issue into a possible miniseries, an extended series or an anthology package.

The magazine's issue, called 'Scandal', included such memorable events as the first sex change operation in America in 1953 to Woody Allen's shocking 1992 romance with partner Mia Farrow's 21-year-old adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn. The special issue contained over 50 articles covering headline-making events dating as far as back as cross-dressing NY governor Edward Hyde who in 1702, opened the New York Assembly dressed as a woman.

Developing the project will be producers Diane Sokolow and sisters Judith and Rachel Verno, the duo behind the TV documentary Harvard Park. After being developed, the project will be shopped to TV networks later this year.
