NBC Cancels "Free Agents"

NBC has pulled the plug on newcomer "Free Agents," making it the second Peacock series to get canceled this week.

The Hank Azaria/Kathryn Hahn-led comedy drew 3.28 million viewers and a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 last night - a 33% dip from the year ago episode of the short-lived "Undercovers" (6.24 million viewers, 1.5 adults 18-49 rating).

Said number once again marked NBC's worst original performance in the demographic this season - even beating out "The Playboy Club" (a 1.2 on 10/3/11), which got the hook on Tuesday.

The aforementioned news comes despite an uptick from lead-in "Up All Night," which rose from a 2.1 to a 2.2 last night.

Various comedy repeats will presumably fill the Wednesday, 8:30/7:30c half-hour going forward with more details coming later today.

[UPDATED - 10:05 AM] "That's it, #FreeAgents has been cancelled. Our ratings went up from all the tweets but not enough. Thanks to everyone who watched! Luv Dan," co-star Mo Mandel posted to his Twitter account.

[UPDATED - 10:39 AM] "Thanks to NBC for giving us a shot, thanks to all who watched Free Agents, and thanks to all who worked on the show- we had so much fun!!" added Hank Azaria about the cancellation.

[UPDATED - 10:50 AM] Co-star Natasha Leggero had a different take, posting to her account: "Yay! The man who invented the Neilson ratings died yesterday."
