BET Networks continues its convention coverage with UnConventional: BET @ the DNC - A BET News Special with Marc Lamont Hill and Melissa Harris Perry that will air on Sunday, July 31 at 11 AM ET/PT on BET & Centric. Hosted by BET News' correspondents Melissa Harris Perry and Marc Lamont Hill and taped from the Newseum in Washington, D.C., this one-hour special will offer viewers a comprehensive recap of the Democratic National Convention, including the most talked about moments from the Convention and exclusive interviews with newsmakers and celebrities.

On Tuesday, July 26, BET Networks and Airbnb kicked off a series of events at the Democratic National Convention beginning with the release of new polling data regarding the 2016 Presidential race and the sharing economy. The discussion was led by Airbnb's Global Head of Policy and Public Affairs, Chris Lehane and Uber's Senior Advisor, David Plouffe at the American Institute of Architects. Following this, Airbnb, in partnership with BET hosted an event honoring members of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP) and commemorating the 52nd anniversary of the historic challenge to the all-white, anti-civil rights Mississippi delegation to the 1964 Democratic National Convention. This event featured a panel discussion focusing on the legacy of the MFDP and included Rev. Ed King and actor Bryan Cranston.

"We're honored to partner with BET to commemorate the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP) on the 52nd anniversary of their historic challenge to the segregationist, anti-civil rights Mississippi delegation to the 1964 Democratic National Convention," said Chris Lehane, Airbnb, Global Head of Policy and Public Affairs. "On Wednesday we heard from a moving panel of American heroes who fought for the MFDP and for passage of the law that granted African Americans the long overdue right to vote. The leadership of the MFDP helped pave the way for the civic participation of African Americans and continues to inspire a new generation of voters. We are all better off for what the MFDP stood for and accomplished when it came to moving the American people forward."

In the evening BET Networks & Airbnb hosted a DNC party, "The Late Night Jawn", at Coda, a Rittenhouse Square night club. Chairman & CEO of BET Networks, Debra Lee, welcomed guests that included former U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, BET News' Marc Lamont Hill, A.J. Calloway, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and The Daily Show's Trevor Noah and Roy Wood Jr. The packed event also showcased moving performances by singers Bilal and Raheem Devaughn.
