Just after the news that AMERICAN HORROR STORY's Lily Rabe had signed on for the horror flick THE VEIL, she's added aliens to her treasure chest of frights in the coming season. The actress just joined ABC's drama pilot THE VISITORS, with a script by Soo Hugh (Under the Dome). Mark Romanek will direct the pilot.

Read the original report here.

THE VISITORS is described as "a race against the clock to defeat an unseen alien enemy out to destroy the world using the Earth's most precious resource: children."

Rabe will play Claire, a child specialist who works with the FBI to root out the children at the heart of the threat and their imaginary friend 'Drill'. Claire is also mother to Henry, a 7-year-old who became deaf two years ago due to an illness, and a recent widow - her husband, an Air Force pilot, mysteriously died three months ago.

Also in the cast are Barry Sloane (Revenge), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), Derek Webster, Kyle Harrison Breitkopf and Catalina Denis.

Steven Spielberg is executive producing with Amblin TV and Grady Girl Productions.

Rabe's upcoming big screen projects include The Veil, Pawn Sacrifice and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Parts 1 and 2. She last appeared on TV as Sister Mary Eunice McKee in the FX miniseries American Horror Story: Asylum. Rabe has starred on Broadway in Steel Magnolias, Heartbreak House, The American Plan, The Merchant of Venice - for which she was nominated for a Tony Award - and Seminar. She is also set to lead Much Ado About Nothing in Shakespeare in the Park this summer.
