Kevin Hart to Star in MONOPOLY for Lionsgate and Hasbro

Kevin Hart is set to star in the live-action film Monopoly, according to Deadline. Tim Story will direct the Lionsgate and Hasbro feature.

There is no logline for the film yet, and it has not yet set a writer or a shoot date. A previous version of the project centered on a young man from the game's modest Baltic Avenue on a quest to make a fortune.

Monopoly will be produced by Hart, John Cheng and Carli Haney for Hart's HartBeat Productions label. Story and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett will produce for The Story Company. Hasbro is co-producing via its Allspark Pictures label with the company's Brian Goldner, Stephen Davis and Greg Mooradian producing.

Hart was recently in the news for his OSCARS hosting controversy, but his most recent film, The Upside, opened at number one, a reminder of his box office bankability.

On paper this looks like another winning combo. Hart and Barbershop and Fantastic Four director Story and Hart have previously collaborated on the Ride Along franchise and three film versions of Hart's stand-up shows.

Hasbro has been working on crating a film version of Monopoly for at lwast a decade. Andrew Niccol was attached to write a previous Lionsgate iteration of the project and another development was set up in 2013 with Ridley Scott attached as a producer.

Hart has been a huge box office success in films like Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, Night School and Central Intelligence. He can be seen next in The Secret Life Of Pets 2.
