Jared Harris Set to Star in Spielberg's LINCOLN

Variety reports that director Steven Spielberg has just cast British actor JarEd Harris in his upcoming biopic LINCOLN. Harris joins previously announced Brit Daniel Day-Lewis in the cast of the drama from DreamWorks. Harris will play the role of Ulysses S. Grant, while Lewis is set to play President Abraham Lincoln.

The film has been adapted by playwright Tony Kushner from Doris Kearns Goodwin book 'Team of Lincoln'. Kushner has previously worked with Spielberg on the film 'Munich' for which he earned an Academy Award nomination. Spielberg, along with Kathleen Kennedy will co-produce this latest project.


Harris is best known for his role on AMC's "Mad Men," and will soon be appearing on the big screen as Professor Moriarty in the upcoming 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows'. He has appeared off-Broadway in the Humble Boy, King Lear, Ecstasy, for which he won an Obie Award in 1992, Henry IV Part II and Henry IV Part I.

His film work includes 'I Shot Andy Warhol' 'How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog' , 'Igby Goes Down' , 'Lost in Space', and 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse'.

Filming on the Lincoln biopic is set to begin next fall.
