E!online reports that AMERICAN IDOL finalist Phillip Phillips will be undergoing kidney surgery in Georgia immediately following a press tour in New York City which begins tomorrow. The singer has been facing health issues throughout the entire season of Idol.

Phillips will compete against Jessica Sanchez in tonight's final push for the Idol title. The former pawn shop clerk scored rave reviews from the judges last night for his performance of Billy Joel's "Movin' Out."

E! News has exclusively confirmed that, depending on his recovery, he may miss the beginning leg of the American Idol summer tour. Phillips, who suffers from kidney problems, had to pay a visit to the hospital this March after suffering from severe abdominal pains during the Idol broadcast. He has been putting off recommended surgery in order to complete the season of the show and hopefully, win the AMERICAN IDOL crown.
