Glenn Close while celebrated and known for her film and television work is a stage creature at heart, that is after all where she began her artistic journey, the gifted actress tells Variety that she'd like to balance both with some upcoming projects. With busy Damages schedule and raising a daughter, she has been away from the stage for some time, but Close tells the paper that, "I'm hoping next year it will settle down a bit. If I can, I would love to do theater. It would have to be a limited run, but I'm itching to get back to it, very much so."

Close also reveals that another project that has dominated her imagination for years is bringing "The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs" from stage to screen. The play tells the story of a woman in 1860s Ireland who changed her name and disguised herself as a man to gain employment. Close won an Obie playing the title role Off Broadway in 1982, and if all goes according to plan, she would serve as both star and producer on the adaptation.

So far Variety reports, the timing has been off for "Nobbs," which boasts a screenplay by Close and Istvan Szabo, but that may change now that Close has enlisted Bonnie Curtis, whom she met while filming "The Chumscrubber," to help produce the film, and Rodrigo Garcia, who directed her in "Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her" and "Nine Lives," to helm.
