GEOGRAPHY CLUB, OUT IN THE DARK Nominated for GLAAD Outstanding Film Award

Breaking Glass Pictures and QC Cinema are honored to announce that two of our films have been nominated by GLAAD for Outstanding Film -- Limited Release.

Starring Cameron Deane Stewart (Pitch Perfect), Justin Deeley ("Drop Dead Diva" (Nominated for Outstanding Individual Episode), "90210"), and Nikki Blonsky (Hairspray), Geography Club has been a hit with audiences since its November theatrical and VOD release across the United States and Canada. The film is currently available to rent on iTunes, Amazon Instant and on Demand and will be available on DVD March 11th.

Based on the first novel in Brent Hartinger's best-selling critically acclaimed Russel Middlebrook Series, Geography Club is a smart, fast, and funny account of contemporary teenagers as they discover their own sexual identities, dreams, and values.

16-year old Russell (Stewart) is going on dates with girls while nurturing a secret relationship with star quarterback Kevin (Deeley), who will do anything to prevent his teammates from finding out. Min (Ally Maki, "10 Things I Hate About You") and Terese (Blonsky) tell everyone that they're just best friends. And then there's Ike (Alex Newell, "Glee"), who can't figure out who he is or who he wants to be. Finding the truth too hard to hide, they decide to form a Geography Club, thinking nobody else would want to join. However, their secrets may soon be discovered and they could have to face the choice of revealing who they really are.

Supporting cast includes Meaghan Martin ("10 Things I Hate About You"), Allie Gonino ("The Lying Game"), Marin Hinkle ("Two and a Half Men"), Scott Bakula (Behind the Candelabra (nominated for Outstanding TV Movie or Mini-Series), "Men of a Certain Age"), Dexter Darden (The Maze Runner), and Ana Gasteyer ("Suburgatory", "Saturday Night Live").

Out in the Dark had its world premiere at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival, where The Hollywood Reporter praised the "gripping feature debut" as "sensual and suspenseful." Out in the Dark became an audience and critical rave, eventually receiving seven Audience Awards for Best Picture at film festivals around the world. Out in the Dark is available on iTunes, Amazon Instant, Cable VOD and DVD nationwide.

Compelling and intimate, Michael Mayer's taut first feature follows a border-crossing relationship between an increasingly desperate Palestinian student (Nicholas Jacob, making his feature film debut) and an Israeli lawyer (Michael Aloni, Infiltration, The Policeman). For his performance, Aloni took home the Audience Award for Best Supporting Actor at FilmOut San Diego. Following Out in the Dark's screening at the Torino Film Festival, Rapporto Confidenziale hailed the duo as having given "two genuinely brilliant performances." The Toronto Star said, "Nicholas Jacob as Nimr and Michael Aloni as Roy demonstrate great screen chemistry as the star-crossed lovers in a film that challenges the Arabic proverb: love finds its way."

Nimr (Jacob), an ambitious Palestinian student in the West Bank, dreams of a better life. One fateful night in Tel Aviv, he meets Roy (Aloni), an Israeli lawyer, and the two fall in love. As their relationship deepens, they are both confronted with the harsh realities of a Palestinian society that refuses to accept Nimr for his sexual identity, and an Israeli society that rejects him for his nationality. When Nimr?s close friend is caught hiding illegally in Tel Aviv and sent back to the West Bank to a terrible fate, Nimr is forced to choose between the life he thought he wanted and his love for Roy. The San Francisco Chronicle called Out in the Dark, "a superbly crafted, romantic thriller... There have been other gay romances in this arena, but none as assured as this one."
