Film Legend Sophia Loren to Return to the Big Screen

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sophia Loren will soon be returning to the big screen to star in THE HUMAN VOICE, a project to be helmed by her son, Edoardo Ponti. The casting marks the film legend's first acting role in almost ten years.

THR reports that La Voce Umana (The Human Heart) is based on a one-person play, penned by the French poet and writer Jean Cocteau, which was first seen on stage in 1930. Originally written in French, the upcoming film adaptation will be performed in the Neapolitan dialect.

Filming is set to begin later this monthy on location in Rome, Naples and Ostia.

The 79-year-old's most recent role was in 2010's La mia casa e' piena di specchi (My House if Full of Mirrors), an Italian made-for-TV film. The actress' last starring role was 2004's Peperoni ripieni e pesci in faccia (Too Much Romance ... It's Time For Stuffed Peppers), a comedy directed by Lina Wertmueller.
