According to the Hollywood Reporter, Twentieth Television has announced that DANCING WITH THE STARS contestant Ricki Lake will have a new talk show, "The Ricki Lake Show", beginning in September of 2012.  The talk show has already been picked up in more than half of the TV markets in the country. Lake previously hosted a chat show which ended in 2004.

In announcing the upcoming project, a Fox executive referred to Lake as "America's girlfriend".  The show will be aimed at the female 25 - 54 year old market and will cover issues such as dieting and relationships.

In a statement, Lake commented, “I want to spark ideas and conversations and inspire people to take active roles in their communities, relationships and their well-being. I have definitely grown as a person since I put down the mic in 2005, and I couldn't be happier to share and continue the journey with both my existing fans and an entirely new generation of women.”

Lake's first talk show, which premiered in 1993, focused on a younger audience.  Since then, Lake has had the opportunity to do some acting and hosting while focusing on being a mother to her children.  On "Dancing With Stars", Lake and her partner Derek Hough have made it to the final round of competition.  The winner of this year's season will be announced on tonight's show on ABC.
