Country Star Dwight Yoakam to Appear on PIERS MORGAN Tonight
Dwight Yoakam will be interviewed tonight (Wednesday, January 23) at 9:00 PM ET by Piers Morgan on his CNN program "Piers Morgan Tonight." It repeats at 12:00 AM ET and again at 3:00 AM ET to reach two billion viewers in 200 countries.
The multi-platinum, Grammy-winning country music innovator has been riding a new wave of success and acclaim with his latest album 3 PEARS (Warner Bros) and single "A Heart Like Mine." He has dominated best-of-2012 lists including Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Village Voice, NPR, American Songwriter, Rhapsody and AOL's The Boot. Meanwhile, the album was just named the #2 album of the year in Nashville Scene's 13th Annual Country Music Critics' Poll, as well being named the third best male vocalist, #5 songwriter and #8 artist of the year.
YOAKAM kicked off 2013 in Style with an electrifying performance of "A Heart Like Mine" January 2 on NBC's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and will tour throughout 2013, including a performance at California's Stagecoach Music Festival in April.
DWIGHT has been included in more critics' year-end lists in 2012 than any other country artist, and 3 PEARS broke the 2012 record for spending the most weeks at #1 (eight) at Americana radio. Here's a sample of other praise for 3 PEARS, which marks YOAKAM's 26th studio album and is his highest-charting debut on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Country Albums charts.
Praised by Associated Press as "one of the most consistently interesting country music visionaries of his time" and honored at the 2012 6th Annual ACM Honors with the prestigious Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award, Yoakam has sold more than 25 million albums, has 12 gold albums and nine platinum or multi-platinum albums, including the triple platinum This Time. Five of his albums have topped Billboard's Country Albums chart with another fourteen landing in the Top 10. More than 30 singles have charted, with 22 Top 20 hits. Yoakam has won two GRAMMY Awards and earned an impressive 21 nominations.<
