Deadline reports that the classic sitcom comedy BEWITCHED may return to the small screen from Sony Pictures TV.

The series, currently celebrating its 50th anniversary of its debut on ABC, may rematerialize in a newer, more modern incarnation. According to the report, several networks have expressed interest in the project which is being written by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein.

Created by Sol Saks and executive produced by Harry Ackerman, Bewitched starred Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stevens, a witch married to ordinary mortal advertising exec Darren Stevens. Throughout the show's run, Samantha struggled to keep her powers in check and live a magic-free life as a suburban housewife and mother, despite frequent visits from her meddling mother Endora, played by Agnes Moorehead.

Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell starred in a 2005 big screen adaptation of the series from Columbia Pictures.
