CBS and Sony Pictures Television have closed a deal to renew RULES OF ENGAGEMENT for a seventh season. The 13-episode pickup - confirmed via a network spokesperson - will bring its series total to exactly 100 episodes.

CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler told reporters at its upfront presentation last week the network was still discussing the show's fate. "Rules" has been either a midseason replacement or produced a truncated run in all but one of its six seasons to date.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT is a comedy about the different phases of male/female relationships, as seen through the eyes of an engaged couple, Adam and Jennifer; a long-time married pair, Jeff and Audrey; a single guy on the prowl, Russell; and his office assistant, Timmy. As they find out, the often-confusing stages of a relationship can seem like being on a roller coaster: people can describe them to you, but to really know what it's like, you have to take a ride for yourself. The series stars Patrick Warburton (Jeff), Megyn Price (Audrey), Oliver Hudson (Adam), Bianca Kajlich (Jennifer), David Spade (Russell) and Adhir Kalyan (Timmy).
