48 Hours SPECIAL: "The War in Chicago" (10:00-11:00 PM) was first in both adults 25-54 (1.1/03, tied ABC) - the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news - and adults 18-49 (0.8/03, tied ABC), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for May 18, 2013. 48 Hours posted a 2.7/05 in households with 3.88m viewers.

Saturday's broadcast was the result of a six-month investigation into the forces behind Chicago's murder rate. Correspondents Maureen Maher and Armen Keteyian reported a deadly link between street violence in America's third-largest city and drug trafficking into the city and in the suburbs. 48 Hours SPECIAL: "The War in Chicago" also focused on what residents, city officials and the Drug Enforcement Administration are doing to fight back.
