-The Staten Island Children's Museum presents its annual museum fundraiser, the Carnival & Science Spectacular. The Carnival takes place on the Museum's spacious East Meadow and incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) learning into traditional carnival fun, rides, games, popcorn and cotton candy.
New demonstrations and entertainment this year include the "Fire & Ice Show" by Mad Science, cool new robots from Staten Island Tech, the NY Insect Zoo, real farm animals, forensic science with the NYPD along with returning favorites like Lego engineering with Bricks 4 Kidz, "Science of the Circus" with Ringling-trained clowns-Watson & Christine, chemical reaction tee shirt tie-dying, the wonders of bubbles, Tottenville High's award winning full size solar powered race car, St. Clare's renowned robotics team and much, much more!
Family-friendly events such as the Carnival & Science Spectacular help children and families understand that STEM is more than a required subject in school, it is all around us every day; in the science of circus performers, the wonder of animals, the engineering possibilities while playing with Legos and the math involved in competitive games and carnival rides.
