New Holland Artisan Spirits Celebrates 10th Anniversary Tonight

By: Nov. 12, 2015

New Holland Artisan Spirits, Michigan's largest Michigan distillery and a force behind starting the Michigan craft spirits movement, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this November. New Holland Artisan Spirits will commemorate the occasion with the launch exclusive Zeppelin Bend, aged 10 years, as well as an anniversary event at their Downtown Holland Pub on 8th tonight, November 12, 2015.

Zeppelin Bend is a single malt American whiskey, laid down in barrels during the company's first year of distilling in 2005. A barrel saved from that first year as been bottled as a very limited edition, Zeppelin Bend aged 10 years. Less than 250 bottles have been made and they will be available for purchase at New Holland's Sidecar (72 E. 8th Street, Downtown Holland), for $100 per bottle, starting at 6pm on November 12, while supplies last.

"It's truly amazing to me that we have been distilling for 10 years now," recalls Brett VanderKamp, Founder and President of New Holland Artisan Spirits. "I first found a love for small batch rum in my travels as a younger man and wanted to explore what we could do when combining the artisan distilling process with our expertise in brewing and barrel aging. We've taken this passion and our focus on grain based spirits to create some amazing flavors that I don't believe are found anywhere else." He continues, "What was once a way to pour spirits and cocktails in our Pub has grown into an exciting and fast growing part of our business and way of life."

The New Holland Artisan Spirits 10th Anniversary event takes place at New Holland Pub on 8th in Downtown Holland on Thursday, Nov. 12 starting at 4pm (media), 5pm (public), 6pm (bottle sales). There will be live music, cocktail features, spirit flights, and food specials. Make plans to raise a toast to a decade of distilling with New Holland. Full event details can be found HERE.

New Holland began distilling in 2005. Distilling was a natural extension to what was already a history of brewing. To this day, New Holland works to coax flavor all the way from the brewhouse through the Prohibition-era still and into the barrel or the bottle, until it meets the glass. The New Holland philosophy always remains true; be dedicated to discovering artful nuances while delivering unique and interesting spirits in their most tasteful form. Inspired by our desire to pour spirits and cocktails alongside their beers in the growing pub in Holland, MI; they have developed a balanced portfolio of spirits that are a friend to any bartender.

"We've always looked for ways to pull the best out of numerous ingredients and processes to produce our spirits. Zeppelin Bend was born directly from this concept using spirit distilled from malted barley and then laying it down in virgin American White Oak barrels with heavy char to produce an amazing liquid that falls between scotch and bourbon. We have fallen in love with this product and feel it is unique and a leading example of what an American Single Malt whiskey can be," VanderKamp says. "To be celebrating a decade of distilling with a 10 year aged version of Zeppelin Bend just feels right."
