Bicycle Adventures, a Pacific Northwest-based active travel company specializing in two-wheel tours in North America, Hawaii (the Big Island) and internationally, announces a new bike tour itinerary in Chile venturing where few have pedaled before, embracing lakes and snow-capped volcanoes south of Santiago to the northern edge of Patagonia.
In partnership with a local, well-respected Chile-based company, Bicycle Adventures' Chile Lakes & Volcanoes, a 10-day day cycling vacation, includes a ride on the Lake Ranco Route where until now no other bicycle tour company has been. "Until a short time ago the road here was gravel. But now it is paved, so we will be the first bike tour company to ride on this road. Our forte is to find roads less traveled," said Todd Starnes, Bicycle Adventures' co-owner and guiding visionary (http://bicycleadventures.com/). The tour begins in Temuco, Chile, just a short flight from Santiago. The first ride is from the UNESCO Araucarias Biosphere Reserve to the Corralco Hotel and Spa. Day 2 brings guests into the Kütralkura Geopark and The Andes Climb. From here they bike to Vicente Perez Rosales National Park with Osorno Volcano. A hike on Day 3 into Kütralkura Geopark to Coloradito Hill opens up views of four volcanoes followed by a walk through a forest of 2,000-year-old trees. After this serenity comes Pucon, the region's adventure hub, for more rides up volcanoes, exploring the heart of the Chilean Patagonia rainforest and the Huilo-Huilo Biological Reserve, with optional zip lining or spa-ing. Day 9 brings Vicente Perez Rosales National Park ride and an optional climb (chairlift available) of the Osorno Volcano, one of the steepest rides in the world.Videos
