Flow 2015 treated 70,000 festival goers to incredible three days of live performances, innovative food and art installations throughout the site. The sold out event programmed world-class entertainment until late, releasing the Flow crowd back into the city centre for late night discovery and exploration of the buzzing Helsinki club scene.
Highlights include Florence + The Machine's characteristically dazzling performance, setting the mainstage ablaze with coloured lights and glitter fountains to close the festival. Beck's much anticipated performance sent the audience into meltdown mixing classic tracks from Odelay with covers including Donna Summer's I Feel Love, whilst Alt+J drew a deservedly huge crowd. Flying Lotus and Tyler The Creator also met the high expectations from their Flow debuts.
Nile Rogers & Chic brought the groove spectacularly whilst songbird Lianne La Havas charmed the audiences with her magical blend of post-modern soul. The stunningly intimate Bright Balloon 360• stage welcomed Songhoy Blues and Finnish artists Mirel Wagner, K-X-P, Manna and Emma Salokoski to name just a few.
Sunday featured the Family Sunday, which has become a tradition. Organized in the Backyard, it featured workshops led by students from the Helsinki University of Arts' musical education, and dance and theatre pedagogy departments.
Flow Festival's artistic director Tuomas Kallio commented: "Flow Festival 2015 exceeded our highest expectations in terms of both quality and numbers. It presented an internationally exciting program of music alongside the other artistic content and food offering. In our 12th year we succeeded, once again, to offer visitors something new and surprising and were delighted to welcome more international festival-goers who have now discovered Flow."
In 2016 Flow Festival will be again in the old industrial area of Suvilahti, Helsinki on 12-14 August.Videos
