GORDON SQUARE FALL FEST Set for 10/17

Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization in partnership with Cleveland Public Theatre and Cuyahoga Arts and Culture is excited to announce the Gordon Square Fall Fest. The inaugural event titled Test Flight is a free community event in celebration of the Gordon Square Arts District-the heart of Cleveland's alternative arts community-and the opening of the 2015-2016 theatrical season. Beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th, the district will come alive with free music, theatre and dance performances to take place in neighborhood storefronts and outdoor stages, while visitors enjoy the bars, restaurants and retail located in and surrounding the district core, the intersection of W. 65th and Detroit. Gordon Square Fall Fest will culminate in a late night party at Cleveland Public Theatre, starting at 9 p.m. Gordon Square Fall Fest is free and open to all ages.

"Fall Fest: Test Flight is the perfect way for residents and newcomers alike to experience the venues, retail, bars and restaurants of the Gordon Square Arts District, while getting a taste of the companies and individuals at the heart of Cleveland's vibrant alternative arts community, here on the near west side."

Featured acts include music and performance by Cleveland Public Theatre, Near West Theatre, Theater Ninjas, Day of the Dead, Robin Van Lear, Papo Ruiz y La Dulzura de la Salsa, Pinch & Squeal, and the return of Caley Vickerman aka "Haiku Mistress" of Guerilla Haiku.

Other performances include: Theatre & Spoken Word Gail Nyoka (Nord Family Foundation Playwright Fellow); Guide to Kulchur; Irish American Archives Society; Robin Pease & Kulture Kids Music & Bands By Light We Loom; Classical Revolution; Cleveland Institute of Music; Cleveland Opera Theatre; Daniel McNamara & Matthew Ryals (Kulas Foundation Theatre Composer Fellows); Great Lakes Light Opera; P. Stoops; Señor Symphonic; UnoLady Dance & Circus Aron Long; Without Words Movement and others.

In addition to free events happening in venues and storefronts along the Detroit Avenue corridor, Cleveland Public Theatre will present a ticketed performance at 7 p.m. of White Rabbit, Red Rabbit by Nassim Soleimanpour (produced in association with Aurora Nova Productions)-a daring solo show with no director, no rehearsal with a different actor performing each night. The October 17th performance features Bill Rudman.

Running concurrently with Gordon Square Fall Fest, the Capitol Theatre will host 12 HOURS OF TERROR, an all-night horror move marathon that begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th and runs through 8 a.m on Sunday, October 18th. The 6th annual event will feature Night of the Living Dead, Creepshow, Pumpkinhead, The Descent, Madman, An American Werewolf in London plus a surprise screening! Only patrons 18 years and older will be admitted and tickets are $25 in advance, $30 day of show.

Near West Theatre-continuing to celebrate their first year in their new home at 6702 Detroit Avenue-will present free cabaret shows featuring alumni performing a series of musical acts featuring show tunes, rock, pop blues and songs from past performances.
