Foxwoods Reports June Slot Revenue

By: Jul. 15, 2013
Foxwoods Resort Casino reported June slot revenue of $43.4 million for the month of June 2013. The total is off 12.3 percent from the $49.5 million reported for the same period a year ago. The Casino's handle for June 2013 was $505.9 million, down 12.1 percent from the year earlier period.

"June produced solid financial results despite the decrease in slot revenue as other business lines performed well," said Foxwoods CEO Scott C. Butera. "In addition, the closing of our restructuring earlier this month puts us in solid financial condition and allows us to continue to make significant investments in our entertainment facilities."

The Casino contributed $10.9 million to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund based on its May slot results. The cumulative contribution to the state of Connecticut since Foxwoods opened in 1992 rose to $3.51 billion.

The Resort is gearing up for uproarious laughter in the month ahead. Joan Rivers is first up on July 20 at the MGM Grand Theater with her always-hilarious trademark question, "Can we talk?" Whitney Cummings, co-creator/writer of the CBS hit comedy "Two Broke Girls," makes her debut appearance at Fox Theater also on July 20. Jerry Seinfeld visits the MGM Grand Theater for yet another laugh fest on August 3. Mark Viera, Dan Soder and Sherrod Small headline a month of "Nasty Shows" from Comix at Foxwoods.

July is full of cool summer music at Foxwoods. The Fonseca Ilusion World Tour stops by the MGM Grand Theater on July 19 to showcase his highly acclaimed Columbian musical style. Legends in Concert, the World's Greatest Live Tribute Show, return for the seventh consecutive season beginning July 23. Tribute artists perform as Elvis, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Lady Gaga and Donna Summer until September 1. Returning, too, is the Battle of the Bands, Scorpion Bar's third summer presentation of this popular series beginning July 28. Lynyrd Skynyrd hits the stage of the MGM Grand Theater on July 28 as well.

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center features a Full Moon Hike in the Pequot Homeland on July 20. The Hike is a journey through 20,000 years of Native history with Senior Researcher Dr. Jason Mancini. The Cultural Survival Bazaar, a festival of indigenous arts and cultures from around the world, begins August 8. Visitors will enjoy Hawaiian and Native American live performances and ethnic cuisine. They'll also get a chance to witness craft-making demonstrations and purchase ethnic clothing, jewelry, musical instruments, Hmong embroidery, crafts, rugs, and accessories.

About the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation

The Mashantucket Pequots are a native Algonquin people in southeastern Connecticut who endured centuries of conflict and survive today on the oldest continuously occupied reservation in the U.S., dating to its establishment in 1666. As the first native people within the borders of the continental United States to suffer attempted genocidal massacre by Puritan Colonists in 1637, the Pequots and their repatriation is an unprecedented story of restoration exhibited in detail at the Tribe's world-class Museum and Research Center (www.pequotmuseum.org).
