Carl Tanner will sing the role of Radamès in this evening's performance of Verdi's Aida, replacing Marco Berti, who is ill.

Tanner made his Met role debut as Radamès on Friday, November 23, the first performance of the opera this season. In 2010, he made his Met debut as Dick Johnson in Puccini's La Fanciulla del West.

He sang Calàf in Puccini's Turandot with the Met in Central Park and at Staten Island's Miller Field in 2003. In recent seasons, he has sung Radamès with Dresden State Opera, Hamburg State Opera, and Edmonton Opera.

Aida, conducted by Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi, also stars Liudmyla Monastyrska as Aida, Olga Borodina as Amneris, Alberto Mastromarino as Amonasro, Štefan Kocán as Ramfis, and Miklós Sebestyén as the King.
