New Amsterdam Opera is proud to announce the appointment of Keith Chambers as Artistic Director. His distinctive style, impressive talent, and unique vision make him the perfect candidate to lead this vibrant new opera company in fulfilling our mission of Opera with a Purpose... Mr. Chambers has also accepted the position of Principal Conductor for New Amsterdam Opera. His first outing in that role will be the company's inaugural production of Beethoven's Fidelio in June.

Conductor Keith Chambers has been praised by the Dallas Morning News for the "taut and carefully scaled playing" of his orchestra. He has conducted for The Dallas Opera, Amarillo Opera, Asheville Lyric Opera, American Lyric Theater, Manhattan Opera Studio, The Living Opera, Martha Cardona Opera, Opera in the Ozarks, and American Opera Projects. Mr. Chambers has been Assistant Conductor of The Dallas Opera and New York City Opera, Director of the Emerging Artist Program for Opera New Jersey, as well as assistant to noted conductors Emmanuel Villaume, Patrick Summers, and Riccardo Frizza, among others.

For The Dallas Opera, Mr. Chambers has conducted The Dallas Opera Family Concerts and student performances of The Elixir of Love. He recently led performances of Un giorno di regno for the Seattle Opera Young Artist Program and has conducted for Asheville Lyric Opera (Roméo et Juliette), Amarillo Opera (Tosca), Manhattan Opera Studio (Radamisto, Le nozze di Figaro), American Opera Projects (Nora, in the Great Outdoors), Martha Cardona Opera (Werther, Tosca, Cavalleria rusticana), and Halifax Summer Opera (Giulio Cesare). He has also appeared with Lake George Opera, Crested Butte Music Festival, Toledo Opera, Opera Saratoga, and Connecticut Opera. As a pianist, he has appeared as concerto soloist with the Delaware Symphony, Clear Lake Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, among others, with conductors including Erich Kunzel and Maurice Peress.
