Singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer TIM JONES will release his debut solo album SURE GOT LATE REAL EARLY April 7 on Oakwilde Records. Known as one of the four singer-songwriters of the widely acclaimed Truth & Salvage Co., Jones is taking time during the band's break to finally release the material he had been working on for the years before Truth & Salvage was assembled. The release of SURE GOT LATE REAL EARLY will be celebrated with a Thursday, April 2 performance at Los Angeles' Hotel Café. The album was produced by Jones and Mike Brown (Band of Horses, The National) and its first single, "24 Hours," features folk artist Lissie. JONES recorded the album in Los Angeles between 2007-08, and it includes early versions of Truth & Salvage Co. favorites "Heart Like A Wheel" and "Old Piano," which Katy Perry helped write with him. Joined by a talented cadre of like-minded California-dappled musicians and producers, the album is a reflective snapshot of life amongst the rolling hills, green valleys and sun-drenched country of the Golden State in the new millennium. "I definitely labored over it mentally and physically," says Jones. "It's gut-level tunes about letting the past go." Plaintive and honest, the album's themes revolve around love and loss and redemption, but in a way where everything works out in the end.

Music writer Dennis Cook (Jambase, Dirty Impound) says, "Wistful, honestly romantic and charmingly worldly-wise, Sure Got Late Real Early is a modern answer to prime Eagles and Jackson Browne, end-of-a-long-day rock for adults from one of today's best classic-minded singer-songwriters."

The album's title is taken from author Chris Offutt's first book, Kentucky Straight. JONES says, "It's something I heard my relatives say growing up. I use it in the song 'Heart Like A Wheel' about how you're having the best time and all of the sudden it's 4AM and you're trying to get the person(s) you are with to stick around for more ballyhoo!"

Jones' Oakwilde Records label-with partners Bonnie Froman and Kara Wolke-has also released projects by Brother Sal Leonardo, Foster Timms and George Stanford.

Join Tim Jones and a colorful band of pickers at Hotel Café for this first chapter of his solo adventures.
