STG's 14th Annual More Music with Music Director Sheila E. Returns in May

STG's signature youth music program, More Music @ The Moore celebrates its 14th year, with international superstar Sheila E. The program is for one night only, on Friday, May 8th, at the Historic Moore Theatre. This will be Sheila E.'s first time as Music Director for the program, which brings together young musicians from diverse music styles to make music together. The annual program provides the musicians with creative group collaborations, mentorships from music industry professionals, production and promotional support, and the opportunity to perform live at The Moore Theatre. Past Music Directors have included Meshell Ndegeocello, Daniel Bernard Roumain and Michael Shrieve, to name a few.

After 40 years in the business, the accomplished and much sought after Sheila E's credits read like chapters in a music history book: Ringo Starr, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Beyonce, Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Gloria Estefan and George Duke. She is also an Emmy and Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter behind the seminal hits "The Glamorous Life" and "A Love Bizarre," and a multi-instrumentalist who is equally proficient on guitar and bass. She is also known for her fierce and dynamic stage performances and is constantly on the road either as a solo artist or as a member of a superstar band, i.e. her performance with The Ringo Starr All Star Band. Her dad is the legendary percussionist Pete Escovedo and her godfather is Latin star Tito Puente.

Last year, Sheila E released her first Cd in 12 years, appropriately entitled, ICON. The singer is extremely proud of her first record in 12 years and feels that the multi-genre format of ICON expresses who she is as both a musician and an artist. The CD has been met with critical acclaim. Her autobiography, The Beat Of My Own Drum, was also released last year as a co-project with her album.

This year's More Music @ The Moore program features singer/songwriters, cellists,Hip Hop, Hard Rock, Tongan & Samoan artists and of course, a drum line for Sheila E. to take to task, and many more.
