Pink Floyd's RIAA Gold Record for 'The Dark Side of the Moon' to be Auctioned

An RIAA gold record presented to legendary band Pink Floyd for the iconic album The Dark Side of the Moon will be auctioned by Nate D. Sanders Auctions on June 22, 2017. The Dark Side of the Moon is the British progressive rock band Pink Floyd's greatest commercial success, selling over 45 million copies. It was released on March 1, 1973 and remained on the Billboard album chart for 741 weeks (14+ years).

The award, owned by founding band member and keyboardist Richard Wright, features a gold vinyl record above the album's cover art. A plaque reads, 'PRESENTED TO / RICHARD WRIGHT / TO COMMEMORATE THE SALE OF MORE THAN / ONE MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF THE / HARVEST RECORDS / LONG-PLAYING RECORD ALBUM / 'THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON."

Auction owner Nate Sanders stated, "Pink Floyd Memorabilia has been in great demand in recent months. Even the Victoria & Albert Museum in London is hosting a extremely popular retrospective of this iconic band."
