In the wake of the tragic events in Orlando this past June, independent record label MPress Records and flagship artist Rachael Sage wanted to do something to help the families of the victims and the LGBT community. The New York-based label has organized a special fundraising event: Rachael Sage + Friends - A Benefit For Orlando, to benefit The GLBT Community Center of Central Florida. The event will take place at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3 (185 Orchard Street) on Tuesday, August 2nd at 8:15pm. Sage will be joined by special guests Grammy nominee Seth Glier, along with Brooklyn-based artists Matt Nakoa and Michelle Citrin.

Sage, who is an active member of the LGBT community and has performed at Pride Festivals from London to San Francisco, was horrified by the attack on the Pulse Nightclub and immediately wanted to show solidarity. "Like so many of my peers, I was overwhelmed with sadness when the news hit and of course knew that we had to do something." Within days, Sage had penned a poignant song "Disarm Distrust", which she will debut at the benefit; the track will also be available on Bandcamp for a pay-what-you-want donation.

Produced by Sage and Grammy Nominated cellist/composer Dave Eggar (Evanescence, Coldplay), "Disarm Distrust" was recorded at Carriage House Studios in Stamford, CT. Says Sage, "It was important to record this song quickly and to share it as soon as possible. I rang up Dave, my engineer John Shyloski and The Carriage House, explained the nature of the song, and everyone rallied right away." The lyric asks the question "where is the answer / that love has promised to us...", while conveying a message of empathy and love with the repeated refrain "I will hold you in my arms / I won't change you or do harm".

Joining multiple OutMusic & Independent Award-winning songstress Rachael Sage for the benefit concert are Grammy nominated singer-songwriter and MPress artist Seth Glier, whose voice has been compared to the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel; YouTube sensation and award-winning singer-songwriter Michelle Citrin, dubbed "the Jewish IT Girl" by the Jerusalem Post; and Western Canadian Music Award nominee Matt Nakoa. "All three of these musicians are socially conscious in very overt, inspiring ways" says Sage, "and it will be an honor to come together as creative artists, to express our compassion for Orlando."

All proceeds from the ticket sales and 100% of the donations made for the song "Disarm Distrust" will be donated to the The GLBT Community Center of Central Florida. The Center has partnered with Equality Florida, the National Compassion Fund and OneOrlando to ensure all funds collected for victims are dispersed in a unified process that will expedite funds, ensure transparency and safeguard against fraud.
