NEWSIES star Jeremy Jordan sings a new SMASH song appearing in next week's episode - appropriately titled "The Song" - in this brand new clip.

In "The Song", Jimmy (played by Jordan) and Kyle (Andy Mientus) are tasked with penning a showstopper for superstar Veronica Moore (Jennifer Hudson, in a guest-starring role), though the production of the special event solo show on a Broadway stage is plagued with problems - among them, the frequent inteferences of Veronica's stage mother, played by original Broadway DREAMGIRLS Deena Jones, Sheryl Lee Ralph; as well as Derek (Jack Davenport)'s difficulty in making the spectacle all that he knows it can be and Tom (Christian Borle)'s involvement it that.

In addition to the aforementioned characters and their involvement in the plot, obstensibly all about the Veronica Moore solo show, Karen (Katharine McPhee) also plays her own instrumental role, as well, insofar as instigating Jimmy's songwriting muse to deliver the titular knock-out finale number.

Speaking of which, the episode also features one of the best songs on the series to date - "The Song" of the title, of course; and it certainly lives up to its promise - the thrilling Marc Shaiman/Scott Wittman piece de resistance "I Can't Let Go", sung by Hudson.

But, first, check out Jordan singing a bit of the soulful, Billy Joel-esque "I'm Not Lost" while auditoning for Tom to get the chance to pen a song for Veronica Moore's solo show in this scene from the upcoming episode.

SMASH airs Tuesdays at 10 PM on NBC.
