The video for "Cathedral," the lead single from emerging British artist Jade Bird's debut EP Something American, is premiering today at NPR Music. Of the song NPR Music hails, "Her phrasing and accent feel as if they'd be as at home in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York as they would on Nashville radio." Watch here: http://n.pr/2uyZznI
Something American, out now on Glassnote Records, is receiving widespread critical attention-Rolling Stone calls the music "A young Londoner's spin on modern Americana and stripped-down soul, driven forward by killer pipes and an acoustic guitar," while Entertainment Weekly furthers, "Nineteen-year-old U.K. export Jade Bird enchantingly blend of folk, alt-country, and blues on her fittingly titled debut EP. Come for the haunting, singalong-invitation 'Cathedral,' stay for the impressive cover of Son House's 'Grinnin' in Your Face.'"

To further celebrate the release, Jade has confirmed North American dates this fall in support of Son Little. The new dates follow Jade's recent U.S. performance debut with a show at New York's Rockwood Music Hall, as well as forthcoming dates at Nashville's Bluebird Café (with Brent Cobb) and Los Angeles' Hotel Café. See below for complete details.

Born in Hexham U.K., Jade's early life was spent mainly in flight as an "army brat," with time spent in South Wales, Germany and Chesterfield. One of life's few constants proved to be the influence of strong working women. At first, via her mother and grandmother who largely raised her, but later, the female role models within the musical subcultures Jade become obsessed with: from troubled, but empowering country heroines like Loretta Lynn to iconic alternative songwriters like Patti Smith and following a thread through folk and Americana to incorporating such confessional, undiluted songwriting into pop music (Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill was a similarly early touchstone).

Something American twists those genres' themes-disillusionment, divorce, cheating, sorrow-into the realities of an independent-minded, modern British teenager in 2017. Produced by Simone Felice (The Lumineers, Bat For Lashes, Conor Oberst) with co-production and mixing by David Baron (The Lumineers, Bat For Lashes), the 5-song EP was recorded at Clubhouse Studio in Rhinebeck, NY and features Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, St Vincent) on drums, Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan) on guitar and Sara Lee (B-52s) on bass.
