Massachusetts' Handsome Ghost will be dropping its forthcoming EP Welcome Back: The Acoustic Recordings next week on April 6th via NYC's Photo Finish Records. The release comes closely on the heels of the band wrapping a SOLD OUT North American tour with flor earlier this month. Welcome Back: The Acoustic Recordings features five songs from the band's debut album Welcome Back, which was released this past January, and one brand new track, "Soft." Handsome Ghost has also released the acoustic version of "Better Off" from the EP today, which you can stream HERE.

"Better Off" was the first song we recorded for the album. It's a song that we really struggled to arrange because our interpretations of it shifted back and forth between hopeful and heartbreaking over the course of time. In a way, I think we've seen the meaning behind many of the songs on our album Welcome Back change as we've changed from the original demos up to now. After finishing the record, we decided to return to the songs afterwards and record some kind of acoustic piece that could serve as a companion to Welcome Back... We wanted to offer a different take on the songs, to capture the rawness and intimacy of the original acoustic demos I made, and to record them in a way that you can really feel whatever you hear in the lyrics. - Timothy Noyes

Comprised of singer/songwriter Timothy Noyes and multi-instrumentalist/producer Eddie Byun, Handsome Ghost's focus has always been on keeping its songs organic, allowing the electronic textures to take a support role to the songwriting, acoustic elements, and vocal melodies. The band has a unique talent for being able to keep large pop songs small and intimate, putting emphasis on the space between the notes and letting the tracks breathe - which can be partially attributed to Noyes' early career, writing folk songs on his acoustic guitar and moonlighting at open mics. Over the last several months, the band his been experimenting with songs from its debut, launching a creative session series titled Escape Routes that displayed Handsome Ghost's versatility as musicians as they performed stripped-down and alternate versions live. Welcome Back: The Acoustic Recordings shows the band coming full-circle on its songwriting process, presenting the songs as they were originally conceived.

Welcome Back: The Acoustic Recordings is due out April 6th via Photo Finish Records and you can listen to "Better Off (Acoustic)", which is available today via all DSPs. For all updated information on tour dates and new music, please stay tuned
