Dickson Country Craig Morgan Foundation Updates Mission To Serve Area Foster Children & Families

The Dickson County Craig Morgan Foundation (DCCMF) announced today an update to its mission to serve the foster care system in Dickson County.

The Dickson County Craig Morgan Foundation's updated ongoing mission is to enrich the lives of children in foster care and foster families in the area through fundraising that supports needs identified by the Department of Children's Services (DCS) and Child Advocacy Center in Dickson County, Tennessee.

"Over the last several years, we've seen the needs in our community change and so we are adapting the mission of the Dickson County Craig Morgan Foundation to better serve the children and foster families within Dickson County" said Morgan.

Core to its mission, the Foundation recently sponsored a back-to-school event for children in foster care in the Dickson County area. Seventy-five children received a backpack and $100 in free school supplies from Wal-Mart plus a gift card for new shoes from Hibbett Sports. Craig and his wife Karen, along with DCCMF board members Ted Williams and Linda Spitzer, were on hand to surprise the kids. Craig also sang for the crowd of children, foster parents and DCS staff at the event, held at the Dream Center at Cross Point Church.

The original idea for The Dickson County Craig Morgan Foundation was born while Craig was serving as a Sheriff's Deputy in Dickson, TN. His son Jerry joined the family when Craig and Karen were his foster parents. He was adopted at the age of 2.5 and inspired the Morgan family's motto to live H.A.P.I. - Having a Positive Impact.

In December 2017, The Gallery at Morgan Farms, Craig's family's store on Main St. in Dickson, TN, held a toy drive for children in foster care in Dickson County, collecting hundreds of gifts for children to open on Christmas Day. Upcoming events supporting area children in foster care and foster families will soon be announced.
