By:

The Pasadena Symphony will use five guest conductors during the 2010-2011 season, the Los Angeles Times reports.  The Symphony's concerts will all be held at Pasadena's Ambassador Auditorium.

James DePreist, who is to be the orchestra's new artistic advisor, will conduct the season's first two concerts on October 23.  The concerts, to be held at 2pm and 8pm, will feature compositions by Rossini, Barber, and Brahams.  Solo violinist Anne Akiko Meyers will perform.

Tito Muñoz, assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra, will conduct two concerts on January 22.  The concerts will feature compositions by Britten, Dvorak, and Elgar.  Solo cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan will perform.

Matthias Bamert will conduct two concerts on February 19.  One of Bamert's own compositions, in addition to pieces by Schumann and Mozart, will be performed.  The concert will feature solo pianist Robert Thies.

George Stelluto, resident conductor at Juilliard and music director of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, will conduct two concerts on March 12.  The concerts will feature compositions by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, and Khachatur Avetisyan.

Maximiano Valdés will conduct the season's two closing concerts on May 7.  The concerts will feature compositions by Liszt and Rachmaninoff.  Chu-Fang Huang, a pianist, will perform with the orchestra.

The Pasadena Symphony has yet to name a new musical director after the recent departure of Jorge Mester, the Times reports.
