"Black Bubblegum shifts his warped focus onto pop music and somehow brings to mind the singular deconstructions of Arthur Russell and the drugged-out trickery of Ween. That formula proves especially strong on 'Rip It', one of the catchiest things the Black Dice founder has made." - FACT LISTEN // SHARE: "Rip It"

Eric Copeland's new album Black Bubblegum is set for release on July 8th via DFA Records. Recorded at the old Black Dice practice space in Brooklyn, the album sees Copeland move away from his trademark version of psychedelic dub, placing an emphasis on creating strange and fantastical pop.

Today, Copeland shares new single "Rip It" anticipation of album release exclusively with FACT and describes his inspiration for the avant jam thusly: "What can i say? Speed writing in reggae presets meets trashed gear pile-up in a rent-free basement, a little blurry around the edges, pictures of Jerry [Garcia's] first, all finished before I started..."
