Justin Tranchita has been atop the Billboard Emerging Artist chart for ten weeks. "This is America" debuted at number four and quickly rose to the number one song in the land on Nov. 28th, 2015. The single then dropped slightly and settled in the top five for eight weeks. Tranchita recently learned his song would reclaim the number one spot on the debut 2016 chart.

"We don't see many Country singles at number one on Emerging," said Trevor Anderson, Associate Charts Manager of Billboard magazine.

For Tranchita, this climb to the top of the musical mountain is a true badge of honor. He has earned every step up that mountain, from his battle with homelessness to other intense challenges, employing a faith-above all work ethic that's carried him through dark times to the vanguard of the public debate over what patriotism means.

When Tranchita's song reclaimed the number one position on the Billboard charts it became a number one single in two separate years. Songs do not typically hold the top spot for a second time after theyslide back down the charts, but in the politically-charged environment of an election year, "This is America" beat back Joe Jonas from DNCE, The Weekend and Ariana Grande to become the first number one single of 2016. Tranchita has also seen success on the Billboard Twitter Trending 140, which charts the 140 most popular songs in the world. His single peaked at number six just behind Adele's smash hit "Hello."

"What an amazing New Year surprise this is for me! It's very exciting to have my song reach number one in 2015 and 2016," Tranchitasaid. " It is going to be a real challenge to pull that one off again."

Fans can learn more about Tranchita's fascinating journey from the inner workings of his new album,"American Man," due out in early 2016. The 12-track album features a collaborative mix of Country and Rock songs, new and old alike. A rendition of "My Best Friend's Girl" from the Cars and "It's Too Late To Late To Go Home Early, " a duet performed with Dickie Betts from the Allman Brothers Band, are sure to be fanfavorites. The record won't disappoint for fans of authentic and down-to-earth songs, including Tranchita's next single up to bat, "Saturday Night Beauty Queen," which is expected out in Feb. 2016.
