USA Today reports that Celine Dion has canceled her performances on Aug. 9-13 at Las Vegas' The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

The cancellation is due to the singer's "acute inflammation and swelling in the muscles adjacent to her vocal cords." She has been ordered by doctors to take a short break from performing and will resume the show on Aug. 15 and play the following dates: Aug.16, 19, 20, 22, 23, 26, 27, 30 and 31.

About "Celine"

Set to stunning backdrop visuals custom designed for The Colosseum, "Celine" is directed by longtime Grammy Awards producer Ken Ehrlich. It features 31 musicians, including a full orchestra. Dion's voice, the exquisite band, elegant couture gowns and jaw-dropping sets fuse together for a memorable performance you have to see to believe. With flawless execution, Dion sings everything from her beloved '90s ballads including "The Power of Love" and "Because You Loved Me" to her edgier, new material from the "Loved Me Back To Life" album.

"Celine" is Dion's second residency at The Colosseum. After five consecutive years of sold out "A New Day..." shows and a year-long world tour that entertained 3 million fans in 25 countries, she returned to Las Vegas.
