Broken Social Scene Announce LET'S TRY THE AFTER - Vol 1 EP Out 2/15

Last week, during an appearance on CBC's "The Strombo Show," Broken Social Scene debuted two new songs, "Can't Find My Heart" and "1972." Today they announce Let's Try The After - Vol 1, a new EP that will be released on February 15th via label Arts & Crafts. The EP's electric first single, "All I Want," with lead vocals by BSS core member Andrew Whiteman from Apostle of Hustle, can be heard now HERE.

All songs were produced and mixed by Nyles Spencer with the exception of "1972," produced by the band's own Charles Spearin and Joe Chiccarelli. The EP is available for pre-order today. "The point is to keep going," says band leader Kevin Drew. "We have more to give. These songs have lived beside us and become our commencement party while continuing together. We hope you enjoy this EP for you and me."

In addition to the forthcoming EP, Broken Social Scene have announced a series of residencies. The group will perform in Montreal at the Corona Theatre on May 21st and 22nd and in Los Angeles at the Henry Fonda Theatre on June 5th and 6th. More dates will be announced soon.

Let's Try The After - Vol 1 marks the band's first new music since their critically acclaimed 5th studio album, 2017's Hug of Thunder, which saw the collective exploring new ground while maintaining the awesome dynamics that have made Broken Social Scene one of the most beloved indie bands of the last fifteen years. Since then, the ferociously prolific supergroup have continued to release a multitude of projects including most notably Kevin Drew's work as producer and co-writer on Gord Downie's posthumous album Introduce Yourself. The album debuted #1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums and won Drew and Downie "Songwriter(s) of the Year" and "Adult Alternative Album of the Year" at 2018's JUNO's. That same year Charles Spearin won "Instrumental Album of the Year" for his band, Do Make Say Think's album Stubborn Persistent Illusions. Vocalist Ariel Engle released her solo debut under the moniker La Force. Drew also made his theatrical debut with his play A&R Angels, which premiered at Crow's Theatre in Toronto.

For their upcoming residencies, Broken Social Scene has once again partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every U.S. ticket will go to support Youth Speaks, who provide life changing arts programs for vulnerable and disadvantaged youth across the country. For Canada, BSS has partnered with MusicCounts so that $1 from every ticket will go towards putting musical instruments into the hands of kids who need them most.
