Barry Manilow Lands 50th Hit on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart

Barry Manilow has officially scored his 50th hit on the Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart, the site reported this afternoon.

Manilow hit the mark with his interpretation of the classic holiday song, "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," which debuted at No. 22, according to Billboard. The song is part of on Manilow's new Christmas record, "The Classic Christmas Album." 

Since the release of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," Manilow has shot past Johnny Mathis, who holds 49 singles on the chart, making him the fifth artist to reach that mark since the Adult Contemporary chart was founded 51 years ago. Other notable performers are Elton John, who has the highest count with 68, Barbra Streisand with 64, Neil Diamond who has 58, and Elvis Presley, who has 53..

With worldwide sales of more than 80 million records, Grammy Award-winning superstar  Manilow is returning to the place where it all began, his hometown, New York City, with a new concert series on Broadway – marking his return to The Great White Way for the first time in more than two decades with MANILOW ON BROADWAY.

The iconic performer will begin a 17-performance engagement on Broadway on Friday evening, January 18, 2013, at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). Opening Night is set for Thursday, January 24.
