Announcing DENNIS & LOIS Documentary About Rock n Roll's Greatest Fans
By: Caryn Robbins
There are bands, there are fans, and then there are Dennis and Lois. Today, BrooklynVegan is exclusively announcing a project over forty years in the making: the story of a New York couple who have transcended beyond just being "music fans", the legends behind the legends. Filmmaker Chris Cassidy has been following Dennis and Lois ever since meeting them at a Mekons show in 2010, and now with over 550 hours of footage, is ready to bring the documentary to life. Starting today, fans can contribute via Kickstarter to help cover post-production costs and get a sneak peek of what's to come: a glimpse of Dennis and Lois' road to 10,000 shows via BrooklynVegan.

Watch "10k Shows" MORE ON DENNIS AND LOIS:In the Rock n Roll world, the word "legends" is normally reserved for the performers and the stars, but every now and then, certain people rise up between the cracks of celebrity and fame to cement their own legacy. Dennis and Lois are such people. On their first date they went to a little known, down and dirty music venue on the Bowery with the letters "CBGB" printed on the awning. On the stage inside, four dudes with black leather jackets played three-chord melodies at 200 mph. Standing amongst just a handful of people, they fell in love with this band and, by way of a spiritual-musical menage-a-trois, with each other. The band was, of course, the now legendary Ramones, the most influential punk rock band of all time, and it wouldn't be long before Dennis and Lois were part of their inner circle.
