The Hartt School is proud to announce its 2010-2011 Dance Division season performance schedule. Please call the University Box Office at 860.768.4228 or 800.274.8587 or visit www.hartford.edu/hartt after August 1 for tickets and up-to-date scheduling information for all performances.
The fall Senior Dance Concert, featuring six graduating seniors who will present their own choreographic works plus solos set on them by professional choreographers from around the nation, takes place Friday, October 29, and Saturday, October 30, at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Performances are in The Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford. Admission is $20, with discounts for seniors, students, and groups. Hartt's fall main stage concert, Hartt Dances, includes excerpts of "Concerto Barroco", a George Balanchine masterpiece, set to the music of J.S. Bach; the poignant full version of "Dark Elegies" by Anthony Tudor, set to the music of Gustav Mahler; Jose Limon's soulful "Mazurkas", to music of Frederic Chopin; the exuberant "2 Celebrations in 3 Parts" by Stephen Pier, with a powerful rhythmic score of Steve Martland; and a new work by Katie Stevenson Nollet. This concert includes not only the beautiful artistry of Hartt dancers, but also features live music for most pieces spanning an impressive range from classical to hard driving contemporary performed by Hartt's Performance 20/20 chamber ensemble. Performances are Friday, November 19, and Saturday, November 20, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, November 21, at 3:00 PM. The performances will be held in Lincoln Theater, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Admission is $20, with discounts for seniors, students, and groups.
