Russian State Ballet and Opera House returns to the Belgrade Theatre this October with a trio of classical ballets, including Swan Lake on Mon 23 Oct, The Nutcracker on Tues 24 Oct and Romeo & Juliet on Weds 25 Oct.

Directed and choreographed by former Bolshoi Ballet Soloist, Konstantin Uralsky, the Russian State Ballet and Opera House return to the Belgrade Theatre following their success in 2016, accompanied by a large live Orchestra of over 30 musicians.

The trio begins with Swan Lake, a classic tale of tragic romance featuring Tchaikovsky's stunning musical score. Princess Odette is turned into a swan by an evil curse until Prince Siegfried chances upon a flock of swans while out hunting. When one of the swans turns into a beautiful young woman he is instantly captivated - will his love prove strong enough to break the evil spell that she is under?

This is followed by the beloved Christmas classic for the whole family, The Nutcracker. Snow flurries, sweets, princes, magic and love are just some of the elements that will be brought together by this renowned Russian company and full of familiar music such as the 'Waltz of the Flowers' and the 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy'. When midnight strikes, the world turns magical in the wintry glitter of Christmas Eve. Toys come alive, the Mouse-King and his mouse-army battle with the Nutcracker Prince and we travel through the Land of Snow to an enchanted place where the magic really begins....

Completing the line-up is world's best-known love story and Shakespeare's most famous work, Romeo & Juliet, telling the story of young star-crossed lovers from warring families and their tragic fate. Set to one of Prokofiev's most evocative scores, this production is filled with beautiful dance, riveting battles and compelling drama, all amidst stunning set designs.

The Russian State Ballet and Opera House have built an international reputation for delivering performances of outstanding quality and representing Russian cultural traditions on stage. Over the past 15 years, they have dedicated themselves to working with the best Russian companies and artists to present the highest quality Russian ballet and opera productions to British and European audiences.
