Sistine Chapel Choir Announces Local Choirs To Open Show At The Fox ImageThe Sistine Chapel Choir from Rome announced today The Choirs of St. Clare of Assisi Parish and School with the St. Louis Festival Singers will open their July 9 performance at The Fabulous Fox Theatre.

Under the direction of Stephen Eros, Director of Liturgy and Music at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, The Choirs of St. Clare of Assisi Parish is comprised of the Parish Choir, Women's Schola, Men's Schola, Treble Choir, and Cherub Choir. The choirs' repertoire spans across a variety of the rich heritage of the Church from Gregorian chant to contemporary compositions. In addition to parish ministry, the Parish Choir has sung for diocesan liturgies.

The Choir of St. Clare Catholic School is dedicated to exploring many areas of the fine arts. The choir sings for school liturgies, performs two concerts per year, a cabaret show and musical, and sings occasionally for Masses at local parishes.

The St. Louis Festival Singers is comprised of some of St. Louis' finest professional singers who perform regularly with the Bach Society of St. Louis, St. Louis Symphony Chorus, St. Louis Chamber Chorus, Pro-Arte St. Louis early music ensemble among others. Gathered from different musical and faith backgrounds, their love of sacred music unites them today with the mission of the Sistine Chapel Choir.

The Sistine Chapel Choir, in partnership with Concerts West/AEG Presents, Brokaw Co. and TEI, recently announced its first-ever U.S. National Tour with scheduled performances coast-to-coast.

The Choir's much anticipated tour celebrates the divine and human spirit and promises to be an unforgettable evening of timeless music from the Vatican archives. Tickets beginning at $50 and VIP packages are now available at SistineChapelChoirTour.com.

The angelic voices of the Sistine Chapel Choir have garnered critical acclaim and recognition as they travel and perform around the globe. Through its liturgical music, the Choir communicates a message of peace and closeness among people, even if they are of other faiths or other religious confessions.

Serving as the Pope's personal choir, today, the 1500-year old Sistine Chapel Choir is the oldest and most respected active choir in the world today. Officially known as the Cappella Musicale Pontificia Sistina, part of the Choir's significance is due to its endurance through several centuries, including the Renaissance, which was a fundamental period for the Choir as it found its "theatre" in the Sistine Chapel.

The choir is comprised of a highly accomplished group of 20 professional singers, chosen from all around the world. The treble section, known as the Pueri Cantores, is made up of 35 boys aged between 9 and 13, who are selected through rigorous auditions. They are known for playing an active part during papal celebrations in St Peter's Basilica and in the Sistine Chapel itself.
