Markham Theatre Presents THE INTERNATIONAL SERIES

By:

Markham Theatre is celebrating its 25th anniversary this season, and to mark this occasion, the International Series highlights some of the best performers from around the world. Eric Lariviere, Theatre Manager, commenced his position in May 2009, and is very proud of this series. "I'm excited to offer Markham residents and the surrounding Greater Toronto area these exclusive events such as the only Sarah Chang recital in Canada during the 09-10 season," Mr. Lariviere stated. "I also can't wait to thrill our audiences with the music and dance of warm climes - Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba's Fuerza y Compás. And finally, an exclusive visit by sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar. She mixes the tradition of her father's music with the modern sounds of jazz, electronica, and flamenco. All performers will make their Markham Theatre debut! This series reflects the cultural diversity of Markham, a municipality of more than 300,000, and is Canada's most diverse community."
