Author Xiyun Liu has always admired Jules Verne whose ideas in his science fictions have all one by one come true, and some scientists and inventors involved in relevant speculations of his sci-fi admitted that they were inspired by Jules Verne's works to have made certain discoveries or inventions. "Pearly Gates Beyond Our Universe" follows five school kids who get trapped in a futuristic parallel universe by accident while watching a film. In the human world of that universe, they have learnt what the future world is like, and what the human beings in the present time must do to turn the current world into a paradise-like one identical to that future world. As their exploration goes deeper and deeper, more and more scientific and philosophic discussions and hypotheses are involved.
