James Lythgoe, a 30-year golf veteran delivers the lesson on the hand action of the golf swing in his book. The book is written from the perspective that correct hand action is crucial to developing a well coordinated, fault-free golf swing.

Moe Norman and James Lythgoe share the opinion that proper hand action is missing from many golf swings. As Moe once said, "Most golfers wave at the ball." - a reference to the amateur golfer's faulty hand action. Moe Norman is one of two men in the history of golf who was known to own his golf swing, the other golfer being Ben Hogan.

The book is organized into four chapters: The Golf Grip, Addressing the Ball, The Hand Action and Adding the Shoulder Turn. Each chapter represents a separate golf lesson.

Before golfers can take the lesson on the hand action, they need to know how to hold the club and stand to the ball. Chapters one and two teach the reader how to do this. Chapter three teaches how to pivot the hands and chapter four answers the question, How do the shoulders turn during the golf swing?

The instructions are given in a detailed step-by-step manner accompanied by 245 color photographs. The colored photographs give the book a good first impression but the real value of the book is the direction in which the instruction takes the golfer.

If the reader takes the time to really become familiar with the instructions in this book, he or she will be well on his or her way to learning proper golf swing motion.

This is a book read for information and instruction not for leisure. It is aimed at the serious student of the swing, the person who is willing to take the time to implement the instructions while on the practice tee.

Beginner golfers will find chapters one and two very useful. The more seasoned golfers will find chapters three and four useful. Weather a beginner golfer or a seasoned golfer; it is intended for the serious student of the swing.
