ULVERSTON, England

Author Samantha Walker has always had a penchant for writing. Born with an artistic soul, she grew up writing poetry and walking in the hills and mountains to commune with nature. "The Butterflies, The Chinese Hornblower & The Dragon" (published by Xlibris UK) is a story that grew from her coming to be inspired by two trees, it is a tale meant to convey her appreciation for nature to her readers.

The mystical, but grumpy, temple keeper grew angry at two Oak saplings that would one day grow and block is view of the mountains. He puts a curse on two Oak tree's and traps two butterflies in their boughs, a terrible fate for the trees as they did not want to cause the butterflies any distress. A brave leaf undertakes a huge quest to help them escape, but little does he know the consequences his selfless act would unfold.

An excerpt from the book reads:
They only took a small drink from the pond when they had done contemplating and procrastinating. This could be years. But they were not greedy and knew the pond had to sustain other lives too. They also endeavoured to keep the pond a sacred secret. If man ever found this place it would bring out their selfish greediness, and they would destroy it for the life giving properties it held within. They would try to own it, sell the water and make disgusting amounts of money from it. Money was becoming one of man's greatest evils. They would stop at nothing to become rich and famous for their far eastern discoveries. Or any discoveries!

A tale of fantastical adventures, this story works to enmesh readers in a sense of wonder towards nature. It is Walker's hope that her tale would encourage children to get outside in to nature and be kind to one another.
