Ken and Shirley Deal's memoir shows readers how "Two Good Deals" (published by Trafford Publishing) came to be - the title being a play of words for the couple's surname. The deals in this case do not involve buying or selling, accumulating wealth or business enterprises. Instead, the authors say that these are about the "many good deals were made in the course of our life and by virtue of the Lord putting us together from miles apart was a good deal for Him as well as for us."

Their memoir captures events of the authors' lives from childhood to marriage in their early 20s. It then proceeds jointly from their marriage through their experiences in child rearing and during their careers in civilian and military service. The narrative then covers a career in the business world, combined with community service volunteers in Lions Clubs International, Veterans Administration and jail prison ministry. It is primarily a history and spiritual guide book for family members, offering nuggets of wisdom and a portrait of pivotal moments in the past.

"Our lives covered a period of history that was fast moving in increased knowledge and technology of which we were participants in family life, careers, voluntary services and spiritual leadership that may be of value to future generations," the authors say.
