Misty Renee' Brockett Addresses Prison Issues in Comical Self-help... Misty Renee’ Brockett marks her publishing debut with the release of “A Particular Shade of Blue: Negotiations for an Uneventful Incarceration” (published by Archway Publishing). Inspired from her personal experience, the self-help book shares humorous and useful observations that will help people survive or even avoid being locked up.

Disguised as a simple survival guide for the recently convicted, “A Particular Shade of Blue” addresses prison issues, both personal and political, faced by Americans today. With a comical twist on a serious subject, readers are taken on an educational roller-coaster ride from arrest to release, questioning the integrity of each twist and turn along the way. The book was written with the intention of speaking simultaneously to all ages, genders and walks of life.

“I want each reader to take something they need from it. On the surface, I hope it helps readers awaiting trial or incarceration to be better prepared, and those in prison to enjoy a laugh of irony,” Brockett says. “A little deeper, I would like another reader to walk away with a better understanding of their fundamental rights and avoid a wrongful conviction. Deeper still, I would like entire communities of readers to take a look at constitutionally questionable directives and procedures currently in practice throughout the legal system.”
