Wanting to share his work with others, John F. Gardiner compiled "Memories for Sale: Tales from a Small Town" (published by Archway Publishing), a collection of short stories, poems and a novella that explores the human condition.

"The stories come from deep inside of me. … I write what I feel," Gardiner says, noting that "people who know where I grew up and have shared some of my life experiences will recognize some familiar terrain."

Gardiner's work is what he calls "emotional thoughtscapes," intended to illicit strong emotion from the reader enhanced by illustrations from Rebecca Gardiner. The short stories feature a variety of perspectives and voices, while the novella presents a metaphor for life.

"The world is a troubled place these days and it's my hope that this writing will offer the reader a place of refuge and comfort on a stormy sea," Gardiner says adding he believes stories about life are always relevant.
